TRUMP TO SAVE FLAVORED VAPING?
VTA Launches “Promises Made; Vapes Kept” Campaign Urging Trump to Protect Flavored Vaping
Washington, D.C. – January 23, 2025 – Announced and enacted earlier this year, The Vapor Technology Association (VTA) launched an aggressive national media campaign titled “Promises Made; Vapes Kept”. During President Trump’s campaign to become president for the second time, he made a public pledge to protect the flavored vaping industry. The somewhat controversial campaign was launched on television and all media only a few days after Trump’s second inauguration. Supporting ads could be seen running on Fox News, Fox Business, and Newsmax from January 21–27. Even major shows like Fox & Friends, Hannity, and Kudlow picked it up and ran with it! The vape industry was feeling encouraged!
Trump also expressed strong interest in protecting and preserving thousands of the small businesses involved in the vape industry. The ads put a spotlight on Trump’s September 2024 Truth Social post, when he vowed to safeguard flavored vape products, and defend adult smokers' ability to obtain alternatives that have helped them quit and stay away from combustible cigarettes long term. Is there a better cause or reason?
VTA Executive Director Tony Abboud showed how important the vaping community's support would be during Trump’s re-election when he said, “Vapers, small businesses, and industry advocates mobilized in huge numbers to support President Trump. Now we’re looking to him to deliver on his promise within the first 100 days.”
It is May 2025 and we are still waiting for a definitive directive from the Trump administration to halt any and all actions that threaten the availability of flavored vaping products. More than just commerce, flavored vapes have become a lifeline for both adult consumers and thousands of independent vape shops nationwide.
