Spotlight on Vaping and the NFL
A media frenzy after an NFL Wildcard game put the full blown hypocrisy of the NFL’s policies around age-restricted products, such as vaping, on full display.
During Wildcard Weekend, Miami Dolphins head coach Mike McDaniel was caught on camera with his hand curiously curled around an object while on the sidelines. Conclusions were quickly drawn that he was vaping. The media wasted no time jumping all over this one moment in time, in which Coach McDaniel may have taken a stealthy puff of a vape, and accused him of losing focus of his job because of that moment. Social media was also quick to jump on the anti-vape wagon. Some social media participants in this latest “scandal” were claiming that this single possible vaping puff was responsible for the Dolphins’ eventual defeat at the hands of the Buffalo Bills. This is Blasphemous!
There are well-publicized rules banning electronic vaping, smoking, and the use of other nicotine products throughout NFL stadiums nationwide. These bans are said to be strictly enforced for all attendees. That being said, NFL players have been shown using tobacco products in and away from NFL stadiums for decades, with minimal to zero blowback. Even in the player’s locker rooms! But, when it comes to other age restricted products, the NFL openly embraces them. If the television commercial isn’t for a brand of beer or booze, it’s for DraftKings or Caesars Sports Book.
White Horse Vapor firmly believes that all sports venues that have banned vaping, along with smoking and the use of other tobacco products, should carefully reconsider these restrictions. Users who have quit smoking cigarettes and are now vaping are enjoying better health! The wonder of vaping is that it allows cigarette smokers to kick the habit while still getting satisfaction from the nicotine that they crave. Many people, especially those in bureaucracy, love to lump vaping together with smoking cigarettes or cigars, and chewing tobacco, when vaping is in fact, the only healthier alternative.
Without a doubt, NFL players have a strong impactful influence on today’s culture and conversation. It’s time the league embraced and allowed healthier alternatives in their stadiums, for people who still feel the need to use nicotine products. Vaping is the future, and is already a proven healthier change for the better for so many tobacco users. The NFL, who we have great respect for, should get on board with this concept and reconsider the details of their smoking bans.
